Am I required to ride the Qualifier Points Races Friday evening?
If you are a Cat 1 Elite Male, Cat 1 or 2 Female or Cat 1 or 2 Masters 40+, no you not required and cannot ride the qualifier races.  If you are not any of the previous mentioned cattegories and you want to race any of the mass start events at the Alpenrose Challenge, you must ride the qualifier race for your category.

Is there a separate prize list for the Qualifier Points Races Friday evening?
Yes, each race has its own prize list.

Where is the best place to watch the racing?
The best place is from VIP area for which tickets can be purchased for $10 and includes beverage and snacks.  Otherwise, anywhere along the velodrome will provide you an excellent vantage point for the racing.

Why should I go out to the velodrome to watch this event?
Quite frankly, this is some of the best cycling action in the United States.  The caliber of the fields, the venue itself and the atmosphere provide for an exciting three-days of racing.  The event is FREE and is close to downtown Portland.  Speeds will reach over 40 mph as riders compete within mere inches of each other.  Seasoned announcers will explain the action.
